Alaska West Lodge

  • Location: Remote fishing lodge in Western Alaska

  • Project: Installed a new chlorine injection system, changed out all of their filters, made sure the water samples came back clean so they could be back in compliance with the State of Alaska

  • Travel: 1-hour flight to Bethel, 1-hour small plane flight to Quinhagak, four-wheeler ride to the village, 8-mile boat ride up the river

North Slope

  • Location: North Slope of Alaska

  • Project 1: Worked for SAE Exploration at their mobile camp as an Operator for their water making facility. Added chlorine for disinfection, changed filters and collected water samples to ensure the water was clean and compliant.

  • Project 2: Worked for Cruz Construction as a Contract Operator running their mobile water treatment plant on a remote pad. Treated the water from a nearby lake and cleaned it up so it was safe to drink. A fairly complicated water treatment plant going through about $800 worth of filters a day!

  • Travel: Commercial flight from Anchorage to Prudhoe Bay, 1-hour flight or 4-hour ice road drive to camp, depending on the weather.

Whiskey Bravo Mine

  • Location: Remote mining camp by the headwaters of the Skwentna River

  • Project: The water was so bad that I had to install a commercial Reverse Osmosis System to make water for the whole camp! We also put in six holding tanks for a finished water storage. This was a fun job!

  • Travel: Drive to Willow, 45 minute to an hour flight to mine, if we can make it in, depending on weather. One time we were within 5 miles of the mine and had to turn back due to poor visibility!
